This is probably a topic which is of more interest to the travelling supporters than the competitors but an important one nonetheless. A key question is do we pack our own supplies or hope that we can look forward to good stuff when we get there. I’m no expert but research suggests that Kiwiland has transformed itself over the last 20 years and that even the French are favourably impressed! Check out Guardian Food critic. What I can say is that one of the best meals I’ve had was cooked at or in what the Kiwis call a “Hungi” (spelling may not be right) where you wrap up the food in leaves and put it in a pit on top of some heated rocks and then cover it all up with earth. Then you go skiing for a few hours and dig it all up when you get back – perfect result! Hopefully the LOC will organise one.
